Today is an important moment in our nearly 50-year history as a charity working to improve outcomes and experiences for people living with blood cancer. Today, we change our name to Blood Cancer NZ.
I wanted to make you aware of this and reassure you that while our name is changing, our commitment to supporting patients, partnering with health care professionals, and advancing research remains as strong as ever.
We also have a distinctive new logo featuring a circle of blood drops, each representing an individual life and experience. This is a powerful symbol of how the blood cancer community comes together and moves forward as one.
We worked closely with communications specialists HeyYou to better understand the way our previous name and logo were perceived. Along with their own insights, they consulted with our patients, staff, donors, and health care professionals.
We learnt that most people considered our previous name to be too long and too specific. We also discovered that to strengthen our advocacy impact and create greater awareness, we needed a shorter, sharper name that more effectively communicates who we are, and who and what we represent.
Our new name and visual identity will be rolled out gradually, beginning across social media from the 15 December, alongside the launch of our new website.
As always, we remain committed to working in partnership with you to improve outcomes for people living with blood cancer. Thank you for the vital role you play in patient care and for your continued support of our organisation as we begin this next chapter as Blood Cancer NZ.
